X-Ray Tech Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a x-ray tech in Rhode Island?
You must hold a Rhode Island radiographer license issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health, which requires completing an accredited radiologic technology program and passing the ARRT certification exam in radiography. Most Rhode Island programs are offered through community colleges and hospital-based schools, and you apply for licensure through the Department of Health's Health Professionals Licensure office after passing the ARRT exam.
Which companies hire x-ray techs in Rhode Island?
Employers hiring x-ray techs in Rhode Island right now include Rhode Island Medical Imaging and General Dynamics Electric Boat, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Rhode Island's consolidated hospital networks and multi-site outpatient groups drive the steadiest volume of openings across the state.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most x-ray tech jobs?
Lincoln, Johnston, and Wakefield lead Rhode Island for x-ray tech openings. Providence dominates as the state's largest metro and the home base of major health systems like Lifespan and Care New England, while Warwick and Pawtucket reflect strong suburban imaging center and hospital outpatient activity that pulls from across the Greater Providence corridor.
Are there remote x-ray tech jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of x-ray tech openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on patient positioning and equipment operation make fully remote work uncommon for most roles. Teleradiology support and PACS quality review are the functions most likely to carry a partial remote component.
How can I get hired as a x-ray tech in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate staff tech positions at Lifespan or Care New England facilities, both of which regularly bring on candidates straight from accredited Rhode Island programs. Securing your ARRT certification and Rhode Island Department of Health license before applying gives you a clear edge, and lateral moves from radiologic technology aide or imaging support roles at Rhode Island outpatient clinics are a recognized way to build floor experience while completing program requirements.
Where can I find and apply to x-ray tech jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to x-ray tech jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Providence, Warwick, Pawtucket, and other Rhode Island locations. Search the listings for roles that match your credentials and experience, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
