X-Ray Tech Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a x-ray tech in Ohio?
To work as a x-ray tech in Ohio, you must hold an active Ohio radiographer license issued by the Ohio State Medical Board. Licensure requires completing an accredited radiologic technology program and passing the ARRT Radiography exam. Most programs are two years and offered through community colleges and hospital-based schools across the state. After passing the ARRT exam, you apply directly to the Ohio State Medical Board for your state license before practicing.
Which companies hire x-ray techs in Ohio?
Ohio x-ray tech roles are posted by Mercy Health, American Traveler, and Voyage Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's large integrated health systems, regional hospital networks, and outpatient imaging chains all maintain steady radiology staffing pipelines throughout the year.
Which Ohio cities have the most x-ray tech jobs?
Cincinnati, Akron, and Cleveland have the most x-ray tech openings in Ohio right now. Columbus leads because of its concentration of large health systems and academic medical centers, while Cleveland and Cincinnati drive significant volume through their nationally recognized medical institutions and surrounding suburban hospital campuses.
How can I get hired as a x-ray tech in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate positions at large Ohio health systems that hire ARRT-eligible candidates before they have clinical hours on their record. OhioHealth, Cleveland Clinic, and ProMedica all post new-grad radiology roles that pair new techs with senior staff during an onboarding period. Candidates coming from a radiologic technology program with strong clinical rotation hours at an Ohio facility have the clearest advantage. Holding your Ohio State Medical Board license before applying, even without a full year of post-graduate experience, signals readiness to most Ohio hiring managers.
