Accountant Jobs in Arlington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an accountant job in Arlington?
Focus your search on the federal contracting and defense sectors that anchor Arlington's economy, particularly firms clustered in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and along the Route 1 corridor near Crystal City. Cost accounting, government contract compliance, and FAR-related experience are in high demand here. Candidates who understand federal acquisition regulations or hold a CPA give themselves a clear edge over applicants with purely private-sector backgrounds.
Which companies hire accountants in Arlington?
Arlington accountant roles are posted by AHC, Amazon, and Harris Teeter and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arlington's employer mix skews heavily toward defense contractors, government agencies, and consulting firms with federal clients, so most openings carry some government accounting component.
Are there remote accountant jobs in Arlington?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: analytical and reporting positions tend to allow remote or hybrid arrangements, while cost accounting and compliance roles tied to federal contracts often require on-site work. About 75% of accountant openings tied to Arlington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the highest remote share found in corporate accounting and financial analysis rather than government contract roles.
How can I get an accountant job in Arlington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Arlington is through federal contracting firms, which routinely hire staff accountants and accounting associates to support large contract portfolios. Look for junior roles at mid-size government contractors in Rosslyn or Crystal City that need help with accounts payable, invoice processing, or budget tracking. Internships with Arlington County government or regional consulting firms also convert frequently into full-time offers for early-career candidates.
