Mid Level Addiction Therapist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level addiction therapist job?
Position yourself by emphasizing independent caseload management, treatment modalities you have applied without supervision, and outcomes you have documented. Tailor your resume to show clinical decision-making ownership, not just task completion. Certifications such as CADC or LPC strengthen your application, and highlighting experience with co-occurring disorders or specific populations makes you a more compelling candidate to hiring managers at this level.
Which companies hire mid level addiction therapists?

Employers at this level tend to be behavioral health groups, hospital systems, and community treatment centers that need clinicians who can function with limited oversight and contribute to program quality.
Are there remote mid level addiction therapist jobs?
Yes, though most roles still involve some in-person or on-site component. About 0% of mid level addiction therapist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in telehealth providers and larger behavioral health organizations that have built virtual care infrastructure for ongoing and step-down treatment programs.
How do I move up to a mid level addiction therapist role?
Moving from entry level to mid level means building depth in clinical judgment, not just logging hours. Focus on taking ownership of complex cases, volunteering to lead group sessions, and seeking out supervisory feedback on your treatment plans. Earning a specialty credential, documenting measurable client outcomes, and demonstrating that you can work with less direction all signal readiness for mid level responsibility.
