Mid Level Admissions Counselor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level admissions counselor job?
Position yourself around ownership, not just execution. Highlight campaigns or territory pipelines you ran independently, yield results you directly influenced, and any junior staff you guided. Tailor your application to show comfort with data tools, CRM systems, and cross-functional collaboration. Mid level postings expect you to walk in ready to contribute without a long ramp-up, so lead with concrete outcomes over duties.
Which companies hire mid level admissions counselors?
Companies hiring mid level admissions counselors right now include High Point University, North Park University, and Alcorn State University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes primarily from four-year universities, community colleges, graduate and professional schools, and private education companies with active enrollment growth goals.
Are there remote mid level admissions counselor jobs?
Yes, though many roles still prefer on-site or hybrid arrangements given the relationship-intensive nature of admissions work. About 33% of mid level admissions counselor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with fully remote positions most common at institutions recruiting nationally or running online degree programs.
How do I move up to a mid level admissions counselor role?
Growth from entry level to mid level comes from taking on progressively larger ownership over time. That means moving beyond assigned tasks to running your own recruitment territory, hitting measurable enrollment targets, becoming fluent in your institution's CRM, and developing the judgment to advise prospective students independently. Counselors who document their yield impact and volunteer for process improvements tend to advance faster.
