AI Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai in New York?
There is no state-issued license required to work in AI in New York, so the path centers on education and demonstrated technical skill. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, with a master's degree competitive for research and senior roles. Building a portfolio of projects, contributing to open-source work, and completing recognized certifications in machine learning or cloud platforms strengthens candidacy with New York employers across finance, healthcare, and tech.
Which companies hire ais in New York?
Companies currently hiring ais in New York include JPMorganChase, Bloomberg, and EY, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's dense concentration of financial institutions, major hospital systems, and global media companies means AI hiring is unusually broad across industries rather than confined to pure technology firms.
Which New York cities have the most ai jobs?
New York, Albany, and Columbus have the most ai openings in New York. New York City accounts for the overwhelming share, driven by its density of financial services firms, global tech offices, and research hospitals, while Buffalo and Albany contribute openings through expanding university research programs and state government technology initiatives that anchor hiring outside the metro.
Are there remote ai jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of ai openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and code-driven nature of the work. Roles focused on model development, data engineering, and research tend to be the most remote-eligible, while positions requiring close collaboration with hardware teams or regulated clinical environments are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a ai in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an AI or data analyst associate role, which large New York employers in finance and healthcare regularly post as structured entry points for candidates without industry experience. JPMorgan Chase, IBM, and NYC Health and Hospitals each run new-graduate and rotational technology programs that include AI and data tracks. Building a public portfolio on GitHub, completing a recognized machine learning certification, and applying to AI research assistant roles at NYU or Columbia can also open doors for candidates still building their record.
Where can I find and apply to ai jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to ai jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings. Search the roles, find the ones that fit your background and location preference, and apply directly through each listing.
