Entry Level Application Development Lead Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level application development lead job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who can demonstrate hands-on coding experience through internships, capstone projects, or a personal portfolio. Familiarity with software development lifecycles, version control systems like Git, and at least one programming language gives you a real edge. Highlighting collaborative project work, even from coursework or bootcamps, shows the cross-functional skills these roles require from day one.
Which companies hire entry level application development leads?
Companies hiring entry level application development leads right now include KLA, Intel, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of technology firms, consulting companies, and large enterprises across sectors that rely heavily on custom software to run their operations.
Are there remote entry level application development lead jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles still make up a significant share of openings at this level. About 25% of entry level application development lead openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, so candidates who prefer flexibility have real options while those open to in-office work will find the largest overall pool.
Are these new grad application development lead jobs?
Yes, many of these openings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates or candidates with limited experience. A new grad-friendly posting typically accepts zero to two years of experience and values internships, academic projects, or a strong portfolio in place of a long work history. Look for listings that mention degree requirements rather than years on the job.
Which industries hire the most entry level application development leads?
Entry Level application development lead roles concentrate in Retail, Technology & Software, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026.
