Entry Level Architectural Designer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level architectural designer job?
Entry level architectural designer roles reward candidates who lead with a strong portfolio of studio projects, internship work, or academic competitions rather than years of experience. Proficiency in software like AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp signals readiness on day one. Tailoring your application to show design process thinking, not just finished renderings, gives you a clear edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level architectural designers?
Companies hiring entry level architectural designers right now include Guardian Industries, Stantec, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At the entry level, openings come from a mix of established architecture and design firms, real estate developers, and construction companies that build junior talent into project teams from the ground up.
Are there remote entry level architectural designer jobs?
Yes, though most openings at this level are on-site or hybrid given the collaborative and hands-on nature of the work. About 25% of entry level architectural designer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so remote options exist but on-site positions remain the norm for candidates just starting out in the field.
Are these new grad architectural designer jobs?
Yes, the listings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior architectural designer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward that threshold, or explicitly asks for a portfolio in place of a long work history, making it accessible to candidates entering the profession for the first time.
Which industries hire the most entry level architectural designers?
Entry Level architectural designer roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Manufacturing, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they run active project pipelines that require fresh design talent to support senior architects and project managers on everything from schematic design through construction documentation.
