The Technology Solutions Department is actively seeking a Assistant Project Manager.

The APM is responsible for assisting with project communication, coordination of status reports, stability of project-oriented work efforts, and the success of their assigned projects. They will assist a PM or Senior PM with various and multiple types of IT projects including and across software development, infrastructure, service delivery, etc. employing the appropriate SDLCs (Waterfall, SCRUM, Agile, etc.) while managing to Project Management Standards. The APM is responsible for documenting Customer Acceptance of all project deliverables by obtaining formal approval.
The APM is indirectly responsible for the work output of the project team members. This person will assist the SPM to collaborate with Functional Resource Managers who are directly managing project team members on a regular basis. They provide mentoring and training to project team members on project management methods, processes and procedures.
Examples of Work
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Defines and manages IT Project deliverables, dependencies, and critical path items and ensures that projects are executed according to approved schedule, scope and budget
- Develops and tracks detailed project plans including schedules, technical and business requirements, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans, and issue resolution plans.
- Creates scope documents based on approved charters and work breakdown structures (WBS.
- Tracks key milestones and adjust project plans, budget requests and/or resources per approved Change Requests.
- Reports status of project (written, verbal, formal and informal presentations) to project stakeholders, project team, and other key staff. Communicates which deliverables are ahead / on / behind schedule.
- Assesses variances from the project plan, gathers metrics, and develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope and is within time, cost and quality objectives.
- Researches, analyzes, plans, documents, and verifies scope definition. Determines projected costs, deliverables, timelines, feasibility, etc. Incorporates these details into the scope document for BDOs and technical team to review and determine if the proposed project is viable.
- Develops methods, procedures and quality objectives including metrics for assessing progress. Utilizes established project standards, procedures and quality objectives, sometimes with assistance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the project management.
- Working knowledge of Project Management Tools such as MS Project or Daptiv PPM.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint and / or other content management solutions.
- Ability to develop and track detailed project plans including schedules, technical and business requirements, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans, and issue resolution plans.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to research, analyze, plan, document and verify the scope of projects.
- Excellent MS Office Suite skills including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
- Five (5) years of IT work experience
- Includes at least two (2) years of experience as a successful assistant project manager, managing projects through the entire project lifecycle.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, MIS, or Business preferred.
- PMP is preferred.
