This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented scientist who thrives in a fast-paced biotech environment and enjoys contributing across multiple stages of preclinical research.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implementation of cell-based assays for in vitro assessment of oligonucleotide compounds. This includes but is not limited to evaluation of the biological effects of target modulation, quantitation of mRNA and protein expression changes, and assessment of siRNA design modifications on cellular uptake, activity and toxicity.
- Support the execution of rodent in vivo pharmacology studies.
- Collect and process tissues for downstream molecular, biochemical, and histological analyses.
- Perform RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, ELISA, and MSD assays to assess pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic endpoints.
- Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
- Present results to project teams and contribute to study design and interpretation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support discovery and preclinical development activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.S. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline with 6+ years of relevant industry or academic experience, or B.S. with 6+ years of relevant experience. Level will be commensurate with experience.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, including immortalized cell lines and/or iPSC-derived cells.
- Experience with rodent tissue collection and tissue processing.
- Extensive experience with mRNA extraction, RT-qPCR, and immunoassays, including MSD and/or ELISA.
- Experience maintaining detailed laboratory records and analyzing experimental data.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and attention to detail.
- Ability to work and think independently and contribute as a part of a highly matrixed team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience performing rodent dosing using IV and one or more CNS administration routes, including:
- Intracerebroventricular (ICV)
- Intrathecal lumbar (IT-L)
- Intracisterna magna (ICM)
- Experience with histological techniques, including RNAscope and/or immunohistochemistry (IHC).
- Familiarity with neuroanatomy and CNS drug delivery.
- Experience supporting preclinical therapeutic development in an industry setting.

Senior Level Associate Scientist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level associate scientist job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who can operate independently, design and execute research programs, and communicate findings to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders. Demonstrating that you have led projects from hypothesis through delivery, mentored colleagues, and contributed to strategic decisions within a lab or team will give your application a clear edge over candidates who only show technical execution.
Which companies hire senior level associate scientists?
Companies hiring senior level associate scientists right now include Pharmaron, The Home Depot, and Atalanta Therapeutics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level tends to concentrate among pharmaceutical and biotech companies, contract research organizations, and large industrial or materials science firms with dedicated R&D functions.
Are there remote senior level associate scientist jobs?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role and discipline. About 13% of senior level associate scientist openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements being more common in lab-based disciplines where some on-site work is required for equipment access and hands-on collaboration.
What makes an associate scientist role senior level?
Senior level associate scientist roles are distinguished by scope, ownership, and influence rather than task execution alone. Candidates are expected to own research workstreams end to end, make independent technical decisions, mentor junior scientists, and contribute to experimental design and project planning at a program level, often serving as a subject matter resource for the broader team.
Which industries hire the most senior level associate scientists?
Senior Level associate scientist roles concentrate in Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive demand at the senior level because their pipelines and product development cycles require scientists who can take ownership of complex research without close supervision.
