Mid Level Athletic Trainer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level athletic trainer job?
Lead with concrete ownership: highlight programs you built or managed independently, caseloads you handled without supervision, and outcomes you can point to. Emphasize your BOC certification, any specialized credentials like a strength and conditioning cert, and the populations you know best. Tailor each application to the setting, since a professional sports organization and a hospital system look for different emphases at this level.
Which companies hire mid level athletic trainers?
Companies hiring mid level athletic trainers right now include Fairview Health Services, CHRISTUS Health, and Northwestern Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers professional and collegiate sports organizations, health systems, occupational health clinics, and school districts looking for practitioners who can work with limited daily oversight.
Are there remote mid level athletic trainer jobs?
Yes, though most athletic trainer roles are hands-on and on-site by nature. About 10% of mid level athletic trainer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these positions tend to involve telehealth triage, injury prevention program design, or administrative coordination rather than direct patient care.
How do I move up to a mid level athletic trainer role?
The path typically runs through building a consistent record of autonomous patient management, pursuing a specialty credential such as orthopedic or performance-based certification, and taking on responsibilities beyond your assigned caseload. Demonstrating that you can design protocols, train support staff, and contribute to program outcomes positions you as someone ready for the ownership that mid level roles require.
Which industries hire the most mid level athletic trainers?
Mid Level athletic trainer roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive mid level hiring because they need credentialed practitioners who can manage ongoing athlete or worker populations with consistency and clinical depth rather than purely entry-level support.
