Mid Level Registered Nurse Operating Room Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level registered nurse operating room job?
Position your experience around clinical ownership: circulating and scrubbing independently across multiple surgical specialties, managing instrument counts without supervision, and responding to intraoperative complications. Tailor your resume to show specific procedures you handle confidently, any charge or resource nurse responsibilities, and contributions to team efficiency or patient outcomes. Certifications like CNOR strengthen your application significantly at this stage.
Which companies hire mid level registered nurse operating rooms?
Companies hiring mid level registered nurse operating rooms right now include American Traveler, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Sutter Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level covers large health systems, community hospitals, and ambulatory surgical centers that need experienced perioperative nurses who can work independently across multiple service lines.
Are there remote mid level registered nurse operating room jobs?
Yes, though operating room nursing is predominantly on-site given the hands-on nature of surgical care. About 3% of mid level registered nurse operating room openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve perioperative education, clinical documentation review, surgical services coordination, or travel contracts with flexible assignments between facilities.
How do I move up to a mid level registered nurse operating room role?
Growing into a mid level role means building independence across a broad surgical specialty mix, not just logging hours in one service line. Seek out opportunities to scrub and circulate in trauma, cardiovascular, or orthopedic cases, take on charge responsibilities during shifts, and pursue your CNOR. Employers promoting nurses to mid level want to see consistent clinical judgment, not just tenure.
Which industries hire the most mid level registered nurse operating rooms?
Mid Level registered nurse operating room roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive demand because they support high surgical volumes, expanding outpatient procedure capacity, and the need for perioperative nurses experienced enough to function as independent clinical leads during complex cases.
