Aviation Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an aviation job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on the clusters where hiring is heaviest: LAX and its surrounding cargo and ground-handling operations in the South Bay, the Burbank Airport corridor for regional and charter work, and the El Segundo and Long Beach aerospace belt for maintenance and engineering roles. Candidates who hold FAA certifications relevant to their specialty, have hands-on experience with the aircraft types dominant in Southern California operations, and can demonstrate familiarity with high-volume, unionized airport environments tend to move fastest through hiring.
Which companies hire aviations in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles aviation roles are posted by STV, Colliers Engineering & Design, and STV and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market includes major commercial carriers, cargo and logistics operators headquartered near LAX, regional MRO shops, charter and fractional operators based at Van Nuys Airport, and defense and aerospace contractors along the South Bay and Long Beach corridors.
Are there remote aviation jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote work is limited by nature in aviation since most roles involve aircraft, equipment, or airport infrastructure that requires physical presence. About 7% of aviation openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, concentrated in desk-based functions such as flight dispatch, operations coordination, regulatory compliance, and aviation logistics planning rather than hands-on technical or ramp roles.
How can I get an aviation job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is ground operations or ramp service at LAX, where carriers and handling companies regularly hire entry-level candidates and provide on-the-job training. Van Nuys Airport and Long Beach Airport also offer openings with smaller FBOs and charter operators who are more flexible on experience. Customer service and gate agent roles at LAX give candidates exposure to airline operations and a foothold for moving into dispatch, load planning, or operations coordination over time.
Which industries hire the most aviations in Los Angeles?
The sectors hiring the most aviations in Los Angeles are Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Los Angeles combines one of the busiest international airports in the country with a deep aerospace and defense manufacturing base, which together create consistent demand across commercial, cargo, maintenance, and aviation support functions throughout the region.
