Azure Engineer Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a azure engineer in Illinois?
Becoming an azure engineer in Illinois starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, though some employers accept equivalent experience. Illinois has no state-issued license specific to this role, so candidates advance through Microsoft Azure certifications, with AZ-104 and AZ-305 being the most recognized stepping stones. Building hands-on experience through labs, projects, or entry-level cloud or systems roles is the standard Illinois hiring path.
How much do azure engineers make in Illinois?
Azure engineers in Illinois earn a median of about $99,360 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $53,590 for the lowest 10% to over $167,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire azure engineers in Illinois?
Employers hiring azure engineers in Illinois right now include Ripple, THEMESOFT, and Walgreens, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large insurance carriers, and regional healthcare systems keeps consistent demand for Azure-skilled engineers across both Chicago and its suburbs.
Which Illinois cities have the most azure engineer jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Deerfield have the most azure engineer openings in Illinois. Chicago leads because of its dense cluster of financial services firms, consulting agencies, and enterprise technology headquarters, while Naperville and Schaumburg draw openings from large corporate campuses and regional data centers that have long anchored Illinois's suburban technology corridor.
Are there remote azure engineer jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of azure engineer openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally cloud infrastructure work lends itself to distributed teams. Roles focused on architecture, DevOps automation, and cloud security tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring on-site data center access or client-facing implementation are more likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a azure engineer in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a junior cloud support, systems administrator, or IT operations role at one of Illinois's large consulting firms or enterprise employers, then building Azure exposure on the job. Accenture and Avanade, both with large Chicago-area practices, run associate and analyst programs that bring in candidates without deep cloud backgrounds. Earning the AZ-900 foundational certification before applying demonstrates baseline commitment and gives a measurable edge over uncertified candidates.
Where can I find and apply to azure engineer jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to azure engineer jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across Chicago, Naperville, Schaumburg, and the broader state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the employers posting them.
