Essential Functions:
As a Bridge Engineer, you will be involved with the design of culverts, bridges, retaining walls and other transportation structures, and will work with our team of recognized industry experts.
- Design bridges, culverts and retaining walls
- Plan production including 3D Modeling and CADD
- Load rating analysis of bridges
- Utilize structural design software
- Prepare structural evaluation studies, structure-type studies, and similar reports
- Computation of estimated quantities, plan notes, and development of cost estimates
- Site visits to support the design process
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering (structural focus is a plus)
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification with the intent to obtain Professional Engineer Certification, preferred
- 0-2 years of experience
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D is favorable
- Proficient with Microsoft software, to include Word and Excel
- This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer while performing engineering design, analysis, and documentation tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone.
- Occasional walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, and carrying materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to visit project sites, treatment facilities, and construction locations, which may require traversing uneven terrain, navigating active work zones, and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
- Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting with a hybrid work environment available based on business needs.
- Periodic travel to client sites, treatment plants, pump stations, and active construction sites may be required.
- Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, odors, vibrations, moving mechanical equipment, and other environmental conditions commonly associated with water, wastewater, industrial, and construction environments.
- Employees must comply with all applicable safety requirements and PPE standards when visiting operational or construction sites.
