This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
- This role provides engineering support to all aspects of the infrastructure of the facility.
- Assists in development, planning, and execution of all plant-related facility engineering activities including a wide variety of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical components, but not limited to: building HVAC, roofs, floors, drains, utilities, and fire protection systems.
- Analyze system failures to determine source and cause.
- Participate in evaluating system conditions and developing long-term obsolescence and sustainability plans.
- Applies working knowledge of engineering disciplines and independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge.
- Plans and conducts small to medium-sized projects. Responsibilities include detailed project planning/monitoring, budgeting, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production.
- Promote and drive continuous improvement programs utilizing common problem-solving tools and methodologies in processes and procedures within the facility.
- Ensure delivery of effective performance management while establishing and sustaining a positive work environment.
- Follows escalation reporting process with inputs from peers/manager for decision making as required. Make and communicate decisions that are appropriate for level of accountability.
- This position will work to coordinate external contractors to perform work in a cost-effective and safe manner.
You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma / GED.
- B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering OR 2+ years of experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Project planning experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a plant facilities maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of project planning tools and experience using them.
- Experience working with and implementing Continuous Improvement tools & methodologies.
- Work experience in the food / medical industry under FDA regulation.

COMPENSATION
- The base pay for this position is $61,300.00 – $122,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
