Facilities Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a facilities engineer in Texas?
Facilities engineers in Texas typically hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering and pursue licensure through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, which administers the Fundamentals of Engineering and Principles and Practice of Engineering exams. While a Professional Engineer license is not required for every facilities role, it strengthens candidacy significantly for senior or project-lead positions, particularly in healthcare, energy, and government facilities.
Which companies hire facilities engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring facilities engineers in Texas right now include Oracle, Garver, and Facility Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large energy campuses, hospital systems, and distribution centers means facilities engineering roles appear consistently across both corporate headquarters and regional operations.
Which Texas cities have the most facilities engineer jobs?
Dallas, Abilene, and Austin have the most facilities engineer openings in Texas, reflecting the state's major employment centers. Houston leads because of its energy industry campuses and medical center complex, Dallas draws volume from corporate headquarters and commercial real estate, and San Antonio's military installations and growing healthcare sector round out consistent demand across the state.
Are there remote facilities engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Facilities engineering is largely hands-on work tied to physical buildings, equipment, and on-site systems, which limits remote options. About 3% of facilities engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve project management, documentation, or vendor coordination tasks rather than direct maintenance or commissioning work.
How can I get hired as a facilities engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an engineering internship or associate facilities engineer role with a large Texas employer. Hospital systems such as Texas Health Resources and UT Southwestern Medical Center regularly bring on early-career candidates for rotating facilities associate programs. Completing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam early and gaining exposure to building management software, even through coursework, gives candidates a clear edge over those with no credentials at entry level.
Where can I find and apply to facilities engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to facilities engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to the employers posting them.
