Business Development Manager Jobs in Grand Rapids: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development manager job in Grand Rapids?
The strongest path into a business development manager role in Grand Rapids is through the city's dominant sectors: medical devices and life sciences along the Medical Mile, advanced manufacturing and distribution in the industrial corridors, and financial and professional services downtown. Employers here respond well to candidates who can show a consultative sales approach, existing relationships in West Michigan industry circles, and experience with longer B2B sales cycles common to manufacturing and healthcare accounts.
Which companies hire business development managers in Grand Rapids?
Employers hiring business development managers in Grand Rapids right now include Amphenol, FW16 USA, and POOLCORP, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Grand Rapids attracts a mix of nationally recognized manufacturers, regional healthcare systems, and mid-market professional services firms, all of which maintain dedicated business development functions to grow their commercial and institutional client bases.
Are there remote business development manager jobs in Grand Rapids?
Yes, though with limits: business development manager work is relationship-driven and often requires in-person client meetings, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely analytical positions. About 100% of business development manager openings tied to Grand Rapids are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most prevalent in technology services and consulting firms based downtown.
How can I get a business development manager job in Grand Rapids with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Grand Rapids is a sales development representative or account executive role at one of the city's mid-size manufacturers, distribution companies, or healthcare technology firms, which routinely promote from within. Familiarity with West Michigan's industrial and healthcare ecosystem, even through internships at local companies or involvement with the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, signals market knowledge that early-career candidates often lack and local employers value.
