Qualifications
About us
We are fast-paced and our goal is to help individuals obtain meaningful work, be paid fairly, and have fun in the process!.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer.
This role is not just about building new reports; it is about auditing, correcting, and optimizing our existing data environment. The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex data discrepancies, simplifying bloated data models, and—most importantly—rebuilding the "bridge of trust" between our data outputs and our business users.
Primary Responsibilities
- Data Audit & Remediation: Conduct deep-dive audits of existing Power BI reports to identify logic errors, broken relationships, and incorrect DAX calculations.
- Restoring Data Trust: Work directly with business stakeholders to understand "perceived" vs. "actual" data issues, providing transparent documentation and validation to prove data accuracy.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize slow-loading reports by refining Power Query (M) transformations and streamlining complex DAX measures.
- Data Modeling Excellence: Transition "flat-file" or messy schemas into high-performance Star Schemas to ensure scalability and accuracy.
- Governance & Standardization: Establish and enforce row-level security (RLS), workspace management, and version control to prevent future data drift.
- UAT Leadership: Lead rigorous User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions to ensure that the final output aligns perfectly with the users’ source systems (e.g., ERP, CRM).
Required Technical Skills
- Expert DAX & Power Query: Advanced proficiency in writing, troubleshooting, and optimizing DAX and M code.
- SQL Mastery: Strong ability to write complex SQL queries to validate Power BI outputs against the underlying data warehouse.
- Data Architecture: Deep understanding of dimensional modeling (Fact and Dimension tables) and data warehousing concepts.
- End-to-End Power BI Service: Experience with Gateways, Scheduled Refreshes, Dataflows, and ALM Toolkit.
Core Competencies (The "Trust" Factor)
- Analytical Skepticism: You don’t take data at face value; you verify against the source.
- Empathetic Communication: The ability to listen to frustrated users, validate their concerns, and explain technical fixes in plain English.
- Documentation Rigor: A commitment to documenting data lineage and logic so that the "black box" of reporting is eliminated.
Education & Experience
- 4+ years of dedicated Power BI development experience.
- Proven track record of migrating or "fixing" legacy reporting systems.
- PL-300 (Microsoft Data Analyst Associate) certification is highly preferred.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check as well as a drug test.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- Dental insurance
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Retirement plan
- Vision insurance
Application Question(s):
- I confirm that I don't require sponsorship now, or will EVER require sponsorship, to work in the US. Please answer Yes, if that is true.
Location:
- Saint Petersburg, FL 33716 (Required)

Business Intelligence Developer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence developer in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license for business intelligence developers, so the path centers on education and credentials recognized by employers statewide. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field. Earning vendor certifications such as Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate or Tableau Desktop Specialist significantly strengthens a candidacy. Building a portfolio of dashboards and data models from academic projects or freelance work is the most effective way to stand out in Florida's competitive market.
How much do business intelligence developers make in Florida?
Business intelligence developers in Florida earn a median of about $115,820 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,080 for the lowest 10% to over $174,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence developers in Florida?
Employers hiring business intelligence developers in Florida right now include University of Miami, Jobot, and Holland & Knight, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of financial services firms, large hospital networks, and logistics companies means sustained, year-round demand for business intelligence talent across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most business intelligence developer jobs?
Miami, Orlando, and Brandon account for the most business intelligence developer openings in Florida. Tampa leads because of its dense concentration of financial institutions, insurance carriers, and healthcare systems, while Miami's multinational corporate headquarters and Orlando's growing tech and hospitality analytics sector keep both cities consistently active for this role.
Are there remote business intelligence developer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. Business intelligence developer work is largely desk-based and output-driven, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 50% of business intelligence developer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed analytics teams have become. Dashboard development, data modeling, and reporting tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence developer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a junior data analyst or reporting analyst role at a large Florida employer and transitioning into BI development from there. Healthcare systems such as AdventHealth and HCA Florida, along with financial firms like Raymond James, regularly onboard early-career analysts through structured graduate programs. Completing a Microsoft or Tableau certification and publishing a portfolio of sample dashboards on a public repository gives hiring managers in Florida something concrete to evaluate before they commit to an interview.
