Senior Devops Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior devops engineer in Florida?
Senior devops engineer roles in Florida don't require a state-issued license, but most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field alongside substantial hands-on experience. Florida employers, particularly in defense and healthcare IT, place strong weight on vendor certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer, or the Certified Kubernetes Administrator. Candidates who build a demonstrable portfolio of infrastructure projects and contribute to open-source tooling move through Florida hiring pipelines faster.
How much do senior devops engineers make in Florida?
Senior devops engineers in Florida earn a median of about $130,980 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,050 for the lowest 10% to over $204,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior devops engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring senior devops engineers in Florida right now include Worth AI, Northrop Grumman, and Philips, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, regional banks, and large hospital networks means demand is distributed across industries rather than limited to pure-play tech firms.
Which Florida cities have the most senior devops engineer jobs?
Melbourne, Miami, and Orlando are the Florida cities with the most senior devops engineer openings. Miami leads because of its dense fintech and enterprise IT presence, Tampa draws demand from defense contractors and financial services firms headquartered in the metro, and Orlando's large healthcare systems and simulation technology companies sustain consistent engineering hiring.
Are there remote senior devops engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. DevOps work is inherently infrastructure-focused and tool-driven, making it well suited to remote delivery. About 80% of senior devops engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed the talent pool and employer base have become. Cloud infrastructure management, pipeline development, and monitoring configuration are the tasks most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a senior devops engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior systems administrator, cloud support, or site reliability associate role and building cloud and automation experience from there. Florida's large defense contractors and hospital networks, including organizations like Leidos and AdventHealth, run structured associate engineering programs that accept candidates with foundational credentials rather than years of experience. Earning an AWS Solutions Architect Associate or CompTIA Cloud+ certification and completing a capstone infrastructure project hosted publicly on GitHub gives Florida hiring managers concrete evidence of readiness when a formal degree is light.
Where can I find and apply to senior devops engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to senior devops engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and location preference, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
