Front End Software Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a front end software engineer in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license or registration to work as a front end software engineer. Most employers look for a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, combined with a portfolio showing real production work. Florida's large technology programs at institutions like the University of Florida and University of Central Florida are well-regarded entry points, and coding bootcamp graduates are competitive when their portfolio is strong.
How much do front end software engineers make in Florida?
Front end software engineers in Florida earn a median of about $130,980 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,050 for the lowest 10% to over $204,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire front end software engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring front end software engineers in Florida right now include JPMorganChase, FIS, and Ramp, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's mix of defense contractors, healthcare technology companies, and fast-growing consumer tech firms means front end roles appear across a wide range of industries with different technical stacks.
Which Florida cities have the most front end software engineer jobs?
Miami, Tampa, and Lakeland have the most front end software engineer openings in Florida. Miami drives volume through its growing fintech and startup scene, Tampa through its expanding cybersecurity and defense technology corridor, and Orlando through healthcare IT firms and simulation technology companies tied to its large research and tourism economy.
Are there remote front end software engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 43% of front end software engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally this work fits distributed teams. Fully remote roles tend to concentrate in product-focused companies and SaaS businesses, while on-site requirements are more common at defense contractors and large enterprise employers.
How can I get hired as a front end software engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a focused portfolio and applying to associate or junior front end roles at Florida's mid-size product companies and healthcare IT firms, which run structured onboarding programs for new graduates. Companies like Chewy and health systems using internal engineering teams frequently post entry-level positions. Moving laterally from a QA engineer or web content role at the same company is also a well-worn path. A strong GitHub presence and demonstrated React or Tailwind CSS work give candidates without a long employment history a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to front end software engineer jobs in Florida?
