The impact you will have:
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll bring deep, hands-on Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud expertise to the team. You'll help keep production infrastructure reliable and secure, and you'll work alongside engineers who care about doing this well. You'll be joining a small, high-output team that supports compliance and investigations technology used to trace billions in illicit crypto activity. Current major projects include delivering AI Gateway and supporting LangChain/LangGraph infrastructure for Elliptic's AI products, managing disaster recovery (DR) infrastructure, and administering Kubernetes clusters across multi-region AWS environments.
What you will do:
Kubernetes Platform & Infrastructure
Engineer, review, and enhance Kubernetes and CNCF-aligned infrastructure day to day
Help operate and improve multi-cluster, multi-region environments using tools like Istio/Linkerd, Cluster API, and Kyverno
Contribute to the DevOps and Platform roadmap, including Kubernetes platform evolution, application packaging and migration to EKS, and enabling engineering teams to ship reliably to production
AI Gateway
Contribute to the Kong AI Gateway, including Kubernetes operator setup, Dataplane deployments, ACM/SSL integration, and observability via DataDog
Delivery & Automation
Build and maintain progressive delivery pipelines (GitOps-driven, canary, automated releases) using tools like Flux and Flagger
Work with CircleCI for CI pipeline management alongside GitOps tooling
Maintain Infrastructure as Code and GitOps standards, including automated testing for infrastructure changes
Security & Compliance
Support Zero Trust practices using tools like Vault, service identity, and mTLS-secured meshes
Build policy-driven automation using tools like OPA or Kyverno
Work with provisioning tools such as Crossplane or ACK for Kubernetes-native cloud integration
Collaboration
Collaborate with Security, Data, and AI teams on DevOps and platform decisions
You will be a great fit here if you:
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and feel comfortable with ambiguity
Are passionate about building secure, scalable, and reliable systems
Take ownership and make thoughtful, data-informed decisions
Collaborate openly and enjoy learning from others
Put performance at the heart of how you work and are always looking to do your best work
Our ideal candidate has:
Strong, hands-on Kubernetes experience including cluster lifecycle management, API extensions, Operators, Helm, and the broader CNCF ecosystem
Strong Terraform experience; comfortable with complex state management and module design across cloud environments
Designing and operating multi-cluster, multi-region Kubernetes platforms with service meshes such as Istio, Consul, or Linkerd and policy-based workload placement
Implementing GitOps pipelines with ArgoCD or FluxCD for progressive delivery, drift correction, and multi-environment releases
AI fluency: Working knowledge of LLM-based services and AI infrastructure. You don't need to be an ML engineer, but you should be comfortable deploying, securing, and operating AI Gateways and services (e.g. Kong AI Gateway, LangGraph deployments, or similar)
Bonus Points for:
Experience with Operator development, CRD automation, eBPF, or Cilium for observability
Policy-as-code using OPA or Kyverno within secure supply chain frameworks
Exposure to AI-driven internal developer platforms or predictive observability using AI/LLMs

Senior Devops Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior devops engineer in New York?
Senior devops engineer roles in New York have no state-issued license or registration requirement, so the path runs through experience and credentials rather than a licensing board. Most New York employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, combined with several years of progressive infrastructure or platform engineering experience. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or Google Professional DevOps Engineer carry real weight with New York hiring teams, particularly in finance and enterprise technology.
How much do senior devops engineers make in New York?
Senior devops engineers in New York earn a median of about $166,180 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $97,430 for the lowest 10% to over $224,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior devops engineers in New York?
Employers hiring senior devops engineers in New York right now include Luxoft, Ripple, and JetBlue, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, global media companies, and large healthcare networks means demand stays broad across industries rather than clustering in a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most senior devops engineer jobs?
New York, Buffalo, and Liverpool have the most senior devops engineer openings in New York. New York City drives the bulk of demand because it is home to the country's largest concentration of financial services firms, major media and advertising technology companies, and multinational enterprise headquarters, all of which run large platform and infrastructure engineering teams.
Are there remote senior devops engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most technical fields, since devops work is largely cloud-based and does not require physical presence in a data center for the majority of roles. About 85% of senior devops engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how extensively New York employers have normalized distributed infrastructure teams. Cloud platform management, pipeline engineering, and monitoring and observability work are the sub-areas most commonly offered on a fully remote basis.
How can I get hired as a senior devops engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a system administration, cloud support, or junior developer role into a devops-adjacent position at a New York employer. Large financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase and Citibank and major technology divisions of healthcare systems like NewYork-Presbyterian regularly hire associate site reliability or junior platform engineers who can grow into devops responsibilities. Building a portfolio of infrastructure-as-code projects on a public repository and earning an entry-level cloud certification gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for those bridging roles.
Where can I find and apply to senior devops engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to senior devops engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level, preferred location or remote arrangement, and technology stack, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
