Business Intelligence Developer Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence developer in New Jersey?
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field is the standard entry point for business intelligence developer roles in New Jersey. No state-issued license is required for this role, but employers in New Jersey's heavily regulated financial services and pharmaceutical sectors place strong weight on demonstrated SQL fluency, BI platform experience, and vendor certifications from Microsoft, Tableau, or AWS. Building a portfolio of data visualization or reporting projects increases competitiveness significantly.
How much do business intelligence developers make in New Jersey?
Business intelligence developers in New Jersey earn a median of about $135,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,720 for the lowest 10% to over $203,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence developers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring business intelligence developers in New Jersey right now include Capgemini, LTM Limited, and IT Minds, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and large telecom operations means demand for business intelligence developers is distributed across multiple industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which New Jersey cities have the most business intelligence developer jobs?
Raritan, Bridgewater, and Jersey City have the most business intelligence developer openings in New Jersey. Newark anchors the market as a major financial and insurance hub with proximity to New York City, while Princeton draws demand from pharmaceutical and biotech research corridors, and Parsippany concentrates hiring through its large corporate campus presence across technology and professional services firms.
Are there remote business intelligence developer jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of business intelligence developer openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and highly analytical nature of the work. Reporting, dashboard development, and data modeling tasks are the most commonly performed remotely, while stakeholder-facing roles at New Jersey's regulated financial and healthcare employers more often require at least partial on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence developer in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior data analyst role, which many of New Jersey's large employers in financial services and pharmaceuticals use as a pipeline into full business intelligence developer positions. Companies such as Prudential Financial and Johnson and Johnson run rotational or new-graduate programs that place candidates on analytics teams without requiring prior professional BI experience. A strong SQL portfolio, a Tableau or Power BI certification, and coursework in data warehousing give candidates a concrete edge over applicants with only academic credentials.
Where can I find and apply to business intelligence developer jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to business intelligence developer jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to see roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
