Position Details
The Assistant Director of Business Intelligence (BI) will be a key position in the Office of University Planning & Analytics (UPA). The position will support timely research initiatives required to maintain institutional progression and efficiency regarding student success outcomes, course analysis and employee data, etc. This position will assist with strengthening the data infrastructure and technology utilization to comprehensively provide meaningful data that supports university data-driven decisions.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
- Assembles datasets/relational databases from multiple institutional and external sources.
- Supports data infrastructure enhancements and develops/maintains data visualizations/interactive dashboards.
- Assists with the compilation, distribution of online surveys/polls and the subsequent analysis.
- Coordinates with academic areas on special reports, projects and analyses, as needed.
- Assists in developing strategic operations and services offering of the departmental to support university-wide goals and metrics.
- Participating in multi-disciplinary projects, team collaboration required, as needed.
- Provides training and coaching to campus partners as needed regarding data interpretation and reporting.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Requires specialized knowledge in a job function, the analysis and/or procedural modifications associated with non-standard work or situations.
- Banner and other job-related software systems.
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
- Detail oriented.

- Problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making.
- Multitasking and time management.
- Both verbal and written communication.
Ability to:
- Prepare detailed reports.
- Use job-related software and systems.
- Five (5) years’ preferred experience in computer technology and/or research areas.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis, compilation, visualization and reporting.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.
Preferred:
- SQL/syntax report writing skills.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, Argos, etc.
- Data compilation, data mining, etc.
- National data resources awareness.
- Routine office environment.
- Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
- Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects lightweight may be required.
