C Software Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a c software engineer in Colorado?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a c software engineer in Colorado. Most employers hire candidates who hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, combined with demonstrated proficiency in C programming. Colorado's aerospace and defense sector often requires candidates to obtain or be eligible for a federal security clearance, which is initiated through the hiring employer rather than a state board.
How much do C software engineers make in Colorado?
C software engineers in Colorado earn a median of about $138,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,480 for the lowest 10% to over $213,010 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire c software engineers in Colorado?
Colorado c software engineer roles are posted by SciTec, SHOTOVER Systems, and SMX and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's concentration of aerospace and defense primes in the Denver and Colorado Springs corridors means demand for systems-level C engineers remains steady year-round.
Which Colorado cities have the most c software engineer jobs?
Boulder, Broomfield, and Denver have the most c software engineer openings in Colorado. Denver anchors the market through its large aerospace and defense contractor base, Colorado Springs draws significant volume from military installations and their supporting contractors, and Boulder's engineering-focused research and technology firms generate steady demand for embedded and systems-level C work.
Are there remote c software engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely web-based software roles. About 0% of c software engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that much of this work involves classified programs, physical hardware, or lab environments. The portions most amenable to remote work include algorithm development, code review, and simulation work that does not require direct hardware access.
How can I get hired as a c software engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or co-op with a Colorado aerospace or defense contractor, where employers such as Lockheed Martin and Raytheon run structured programs for students completing computer science or electrical engineering degrees. Entry-level roles titled junior embedded engineer or associate firmware engineer at these companies accept candidates without professional experience. Building a portfolio of personal embedded projects on platforms like Arduino or STM32 and pursuing a CompTIA Security+ credential strengthens applications for roles that require or lead toward a security clearance.
Where can I find and apply to c software engineer jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to c software engineer jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your background in embedded systems, firmware, or real-time programming, and apply directly to the positions that fit your experience level and preferred location.
