Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.
Role Overview
We are seeking an AI Software Solutions Engineer to join our Digital and Photonics Software R&D team. In this role you will develop and integrate software that brings AI-powered capabilities into digital measurement instrument products. The position calls for solid software engineering skills and hands-on knowledge of Digital and Photonics measurements, together with a strong interest in applying Generative AI and agentic (multi-agent) techniques. Working independently on defined assignments and alongside senior engineers and the Solutions Architect, you will help deliver production-ready features for these products.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering and Delivery
- Apply Digital and Photonics measurement domain knowledge to design, build, test, and debug software features for products such as sampling and realtime oscilloscopes, BERTs, and AWGs.
- Determine and develop approaches to assigned features and components, working independently to deliver reliable, well-tested, maintainable software through the full development lifecycle.
- Implement AI-enabled data flows and features defined by the Solutions Architect and senior engineers — which could include ingestion, preprocessing, feature extraction, model inference, and post-processing — ensuring data integrity and traceability.
- Contribute to solution and component design reviews, applying software design patterns, performance optimization, and maintainability best practices.
- Use Git and CI/CD pipelines and write automated tests to ensure quality and repeatable delivery.
Applied AI
- Learn and apply Generative AI and agentic techniques — prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool/function calling, and multi-step reasoning — to implement product features under the direction of the Solutions Architect and senior engineers.
- Help evaluate AI components, models, and libraries and integrate the selected approaches into product software.
Team Member
- Work as a contributing member of a team of Digital and Photonics Measurement domain experts and AI engineers; help plan, estimate, and track your own tasks to meet milestones.
- Participate in a culture of experimentation, rigorous AI evaluation, and responsible AI development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with Product Management, QA, and validation to clarify requirements and ensure features are reliable, explainable, and auditable.
- Communicate progress, risks, and technical questions clearly to your team and the Project Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, and typically 4-5 years of relevant software development experience.
- Working knowledge of, or hands-on exposure to, Digital and Photonics measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, BERTs, AWGs) — or a strong foundation in a closely related measurement or signal-processing domain with the ability to ramp quickly.
- Proficiency in one or more modern software languages such as C++, C#, Python, Rust, or Java.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipeline workflows.
- Solid grounding in software design patterns, testing, and debugging, with the ability to work independently on defined assignments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering software components into production or product environments.
- Familiarity with — and a strong desire to learn — how AI-powered software is built (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation and agentic techniques).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing instrument, embedded, or real-time software, including hardware/software integration or signal-processing pipelines.
- Hands-on exposure to AI/ML libraries or agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration toolkits.
- Exposure to deploying AI/ML models on edge or embedded platforms.
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices and explainability tooling (e.g., SHAP, LIME).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

Senior AI Software Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior ai software engineer in Colorado?
Colorado does not require a state-issued license to work as an AI software engineer. The path typically starts with a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field, followed by progressively senior engineering roles. Many Colorado employers in aerospace and defense, such as those along the Front Range corridor, also expect candidates to qualify for a federal security clearance, which becomes a practical requirement worth pursuing early in your career.
How much do senior AI software engineers make in Colorado?
Senior AI software engineers in Colorado earn a median of about $138,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,480 for the lowest 10% to over $213,010 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior ai software engineers in Colorado?
Colorado senior ai software engineer roles are posted by Fivetran, Mears Group, and Trimble and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's concentration of aerospace primes, cloud infrastructure teams, and venture-backed deep tech firms creates a broad mix of employer types actively competing for senior AI talent.
Which Colorado cities have the most senior ai software engineer jobs?
Denver, Englewood, and Colorado Springs have the most senior ai software engineer openings in Colorado. Denver anchors demand through its large enterprise tech and fintech presence, Boulder draws AI research roles tied to university spinouts and cloud companies, and Colorado Springs is driven by the dense concentration of defense contractors and military commands that require AI engineering support with security clearances.
Are there remote senior ai software engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 63% of senior ai software engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well the work translates to distributed teams. Roles focused on model development, research, and cloud infrastructure tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring classified network access or on-site hardware integration at defense facilities remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a senior ai software engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a machine learning engineer or data scientist role at a mid-size Colorado tech company or a large employer like Google's Boulder office or a Front Range aerospace firm, then building toward seniority. Contributing to open-source ML projects, completing a graduate certificate in AI, and earning a cloud ML certification give candidates a concrete edge. Defense contractors along the I-25 corridor also hire associate engineers into cleared pipelines where mentorship and progression are structured from day one.
