Application Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a application engineer in Colorado?
Most application engineer roles in Colorado require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field. Colorado does not require a state-issued license specifically for the application engineer title, though roles in defense or regulated industries may require security clearance or sector-specific certifications. Employers in the Denver and Colorado Springs markets often prefer candidates with hands-on lab or field experience gained through internships or co-op programs at Colorado engineering programs.
Which companies hire application engineers in Colorado?
Employers hiring application engineers in Colorado right now include BAE Systems USA, Google, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's concentration of defense contractors, aerospace manufacturers, and precision technology firms means hiring activity remains consistent throughout the year across the Front Range corridor.
Which Colorado cities have the most application engineer jobs?
Denver, Aurora, and Colorado account for the largest share of application engineer openings in Colorado. Denver anchors the market with its broad industrial and technology base, Colorado Springs draws heavily from defense and aerospace contractors clustered near Peterson Space Force Base and Schriever, while Boulder's research and hardware technology companies contribute a steady share of field application and systems integration roles.
Are there remote application engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely software-focused fields. About 56% of application engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's frequent need for on-site customer support, hardware integration, and product demonstrations. Pre-sales support and software-defined application roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility within this job category.
How can I get hired as a application engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting associate application engineer or field applications intern roles at Colorado's established aerospace and defense employers, many of which run structured new-graduate programs. Companies like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have formal early-career engineering pipelines in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas. Candidates coming from adjacent roles such as test technician, applications technician, or technical sales support are frequently considered. A strong capstone project, senior design portfolio, or completed internship with measurable results gives a clear competitive edge.
Where can I find and apply to application engineer jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to application engineer jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one without needing to create a profile or sign up first.
