Entry Level Cancer Registrar Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level cancer registrar job?
Employers hiring at the entry level typically look for coursework or hands-on exposure in health information management, medical terminology, or oncology coding. Completing a formal cancer registry education program or an NCRA-approved practicum gives you a concrete edge. Demonstrating familiarity with registry software and staging systems in your resume, even through academic projects, signals readiness to hiring managers who expect to provide on-the-job training.
Which companies hire entry level cancer registrars?
Companies hiring entry level cancer registrars right now include St. Luke's Hospital (MO), SSM Health, and City of Hope, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At the entry level, hiring tends to come from hospital systems, regional cancer centers, and health information management firms that build their registry teams by training newer professionals rather than requiring years of prior experience.
Are there remote entry level cancer registrar jobs?
Yes, though most entry level postings are still on-site while new registrars complete initial training. About 75% of entry level cancer registrar openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a growing number of employers who allow experienced-enough junior staff to abstract cases off-site once they have demonstrated core competency under supervision.
Are these new grad cancer registrar jobs?
Yes. The listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior cancer registrar roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts an internship or practicum in place of paid history, or explicitly mentions on-the-job training. If you are a new grad with a relevant education program or volunteer registry experience, these postings are written with candidates like you in mind.
Which industries hire the most entry level cancer registrars?
Entry Level cancer registrar roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because cancer reporting mandates require registry staff at virtually every facility that treats oncology patients, creating steady demand for trained junior candidates who can grow into full abstraction workloads.
