Cardiac Technician Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cardiac technician in California?
California does not issue a state-specific license for cardiac technicians, so the path runs through nationally recognized credentials accepted by California employers. Most hiring managers require or strongly prefer the Certified Cardiographic Technician credential awarded by Cardiovascular Credentialing International. You'll typically need to complete an accredited cardiovascular technology or allied health program first, which community colleges and vocational schools throughout California offer, then pass the credentialing exam before applying.
How much do cardiac technicians make in California?
Cardiac technicians in California earn a median of about $78,170 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $54,720 for the lowest 10% to over $157,470 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cardiac technicians in California?
Employers hiring cardiac technicians in California right now include iRhythm Technologies, Boston Scientific, and Prime Healthcare Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's dense concentration of large integrated health systems and academic medical centers means consistent openings across both hospital inpatient units and outpatient cardiology practices statewide.
Which California cities have the most cardiac technician jobs?
San Francisco, Anaheim, and Santa Monica have the most cardiac technician openings in California. Los Angeles drives the highest volume given its sheer population and the density of major hospital systems headquartered there, while San Francisco and San Diego follow closely because of their large academic medical centers, cardiology research programs, and regional referral hospitals that require continuous cardiac monitoring staff.
Are there remote cardiac technician jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. The core duties of a cardiac technician require hands-on patient contact for EKG placement, Holter hook-ups, and stress test monitoring, so fully remote work is the exception rather than the norm. About 57% of cardiac technician openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve remote cardiac telemetry monitoring or data review rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a cardiac technician in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for an EKG technician or cardiac monitoring technician role, which requires less experience than a full cardiovascular specialist position. Large California hospital systems such as Kaiser Permanente and county health systems run new-employee training cohorts that accept candidates from allied health programs with no prior clinical cardiac experience. Completing a phlebotomy or patient care technician role at a California hospital first is a common lateral move that builds the access needed to transition into cardiac tech openings internally. Holding a current BLS certification and a CCT exam eligibility from an accredited program gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to cardiac technician jobs in California?
You can find and apply to cardiac technician jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the listings by city or specialty to narrow to roles that match your credentials and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
