Mid Level Career Counselor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level career counselor job?
Position your experience around ownership and measurable outcomes rather than tasks you completed. Highlight programs you designed, caseloads you managed independently, and results you can quantify, such as placement rates or client retention. Tailor your resume to show you can work with limited oversight, and emphasize any specialization, whether in a particular population, industry sector, or counseling method, that sets you apart from early-career candidates.
Which companies hire mid level career counselors?
Companies hiring mid level career counselors right now include BNH, Lockheed Martin, and Texas Instruments, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of employers, including universities and colleges, workforce development agencies, healthcare systems, and private coaching or outplacement firms that need counselors who can run independently.
Are there remote mid level career counselor jobs?
Yes, and the share is meaningful. About 41% of mid level career counselor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how widely virtual counseling has been adopted across education, workforce development, and employee assistance programs. Many employers at this level now treat location flexibility as a standard offering rather than an exception.
How do I move up to a mid level career counselor role?
Growth from entry level into a mid level role typically comes from building a consistent record of independent client or student outcomes, taking on progressively complex caseloads, and developing a recognizable area of depth, such as career assessment, industry-specific advising, or program coordination. Seeking out stretch assignments, documenting measurable impact, and earning relevant credentials all signal readiness for the increased ownership that mid level roles require.
Which industries hire the most mid level career counselors?
Mid Level career counselor roles concentrate in Education, Manufacturing, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring because they serve large populations of clients or students at active career transition points, creating sustained demand for counselors who can manage full caseloads and contribute to program outcomes without close supervision.
