Caregiver Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a caregiver in Florida?
The most common path is completing a state-approved Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant training program and registering with the Florida Department of Health. CNA candidates must pass a competency exam administered through Prometric before working in a licensed facility. For home health aide roles, employers often require completion of a Florida Agency for Health Care Administration-approved training curriculum. Some positions, particularly in memory care or pediatric settings, also expect a CPR certification from an accredited provider before hiring.
Which companies hire caregivers in Florida?
Florida caregiver roles are posted by Optum, Mind & Mobility, and Cornerstone Caregiving and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's large retiree population and dense network of assisted living facilities mean these and other established providers hire continuously rather than seasonally.
Which Florida cities have the most caregiver jobs?
Saint Augustine, Sanford, and Jacksonville lead Florida for caregiver openings, reflecting where the state's largest senior living campuses, hospital systems, and home health agencies are concentrated. Smaller coastal and suburban markets like Sarasota and Fort Myers also post consistently because their above-average share of retirement-age residents drives steady private-duty and assisted-living demand.
Are there remote caregiver jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Caregiving is fundamentally hands-on work, so most roles require in-person presence with a client or in a facility. About 0% of caregiver openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in care coordination, scheduling, or virtual companion services rather than direct personal care.
How can I get hired as a caregiver in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is completing a Florida Agency for Health Care Administration-approved HHA training program, which many Florida home health agencies run in-house for new hires. Brookdale Senior Living and Encompass Health both offer on-the-job training tracks that allow candidates to earn their certification while working paid shifts. Candidates coming from adjacent roles such as dietary aide, medical transport driver, or hospital patient sitter often move into caregiver positions with minimal additional credentialing. Completing CPR certification before applying gives an immediate edge with most Florida employers.
Where can I find and apply to caregiver jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to caregiver jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across home health, assisted living, and private-duty settings. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer. No detours required.
