Educational Audiologist Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a educational audiologist in Florida?
To work as an educational audiologist in Florida you must hold an active audiology license issued by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance. Licensure requires a doctoral degree in audiology from an accredited program and passage of the Praxis Audiology exam. Many Florida school districts also expect the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology. Once licensed, applicants can apply directly to district-level special education departments or pediatric health systems.
Which companies hire educational audiologists in Florida?
Florida educational audiologist roles are posted by Florida International University, AJAIA, and AmeriLife and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Florida's large public school districts and pediatric hospital networks generate the most consistent year-round openings for this role.
Which Florida cities have the most educational audiologist jobs?
Miami, Florida, and Tampa have the most educational audiologist openings in Florida. Miami and Tampa lead because of their large public school districts and children's hospital systems, while Orlando's growth as a regional pediatric care hub and home to one of the largest school districts in the country draws steady demand for the role.
Are there remote educational audiologist jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of educational audiologist openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of audiological testing and school-based assessments. The parts of the role most suited to remote work include IEP meeting participation, report writing, and tele-audiology consultations for follow-up cases where in-person testing has already been completed.
How can I get hired as a educational audiologist in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a supervised clinical fellowship, which Florida school districts and pediatric hospital outpatient programs often host for recent audiology graduates. Miami-Dade County Public Schools and large health systems such as Nicklaus Children's Hospital have historically supported new-graduate placements. Candidates who hold a current Florida audiology license, even provisionally, and have completed their Au.D. externship in a school or pediatric setting stand out. Lateral entry from speech-language pathology assistant roles within special education departments can also open doors.
