Certified Medical Assistant Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a certified medical assistant job in Tampa?
Focusing your search on Tampa's Medical District, New Tampa, and the Brandon corridor gives you the highest concentration of openings, especially within outpatient clinics, multi-specialty groups, and federally qualified health centers. Candidates with phlebotomy skills and electronic health record experience in systems like Epic or Athenahealth stand out in this market. Applying directly to high-volume physician group networks and hospital outpatient departments tends to move faster than going through general staffing agencies.
Which companies hire certified medical assistants in Tampa?
Tampa certified medical assistant roles are posted by Tampa General Hospital, University of South Florida Tampa General Physicians, and Orlando Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The Tampa market is particularly active among large outpatient clinic networks, hospital-affiliated medical groups, and urgent care chains that operate multiple locations across Hillsborough County.
Are there remote certified medical assistant jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though opportunities are limited since most certified medical assistant work requires in-person patient care. About 4% of certified medical assistant openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the small slice of the role that translates to telehealth coordination or remote patient monitoring support. Tampa's growing telehealth companies and virtual care platforms are the most likely sources of those flexible arrangements.
How can I get a certified medical assistant job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is applying to urgent care chains and retail health clinics, which tend to hire newly certified candidates and provide on-the-job training across multiple clinical tasks. Community health centers serving Hillsborough County also hire entry-level certified medical assistants through structured onboarding programs. Completing a clinical externship at a Tampa-area facility during your certification program and obtaining a CPR certification before applying both improve your odds with local employers.
Which industries hire the most certified medical assistants in Tampa?
The sectors hiring the most certified medical assistants in Tampa are Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tampa's rapid population growth in surrounding suburbs like Wesley Chapel and Riverview has accelerated demand from outpatient and ambulatory care facilities expanding to serve those communities.
