Certified Pharmacy Technician Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified pharmacy technician in Colorado?
Colorado requires pharmacy technicians to register with the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy before working in any pharmacy setting. To register, you must complete a Board-approved training program or demonstrate equivalent work experience, and most employers expect national certification through the PTCB or NHA. Once registered and certified, you can apply directly to hospital, retail, or specialty pharmacy positions across the state.
Which companies hire certified pharmacy technicians in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring certified pharmacy technicians in Colorado include Walgreens, Walmart, and King Soopers, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's mix of large integrated health systems and high-volume retail pharmacy networks keeps demand for registered, nationally certified technicians steady throughout the year.
Which Colorado cities have the most certified pharmacy technician jobs?
Englewood, Colorado Springs, and Aurora account for the most certified pharmacy technician openings in Colorado. The Denver metro drives the largest share, anchored by major health systems and corporate retail pharmacy operations, while Colorado Springs and Aurora generate consistent openings through regional hospital campuses and high-traffic retail pharmacy locations serving fast-growing suburban populations.
Are there remote certified pharmacy technician jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Most certified pharmacy technician work is hands-on and requires a physical pharmacy setting, so the majority of roles are on-site. About 0% of certified pharmacy technician openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in mail-order pharmacy data entry, prior authorization support, or specialty pharmacy call-center roles.
How can I get hired as a certified pharmacy technician in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a Colorado State Board of Pharmacy-approved pharmacy technician training program, which many community colleges across the Front Range offer, then applying to retail pharmacy sites that hire trainees while they complete registration. UCHealth and Intermountain Health run structured pharmacy technician internship and apprenticeship pipelines for new entrants. Candidates coming from adjacent roles such as medical assistant, pharmacy clerk, or pharmacy aide have a clear edge, and completing the PTCB ExCPT exam early signals readiness to Colorado employers even before you have clinical hours.
