Certified Pharmacy Technician Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified pharmacy technician in Utah?
To become a certified pharmacy technician in Utah, you must register with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing and hold a national certification from either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or the National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT). Most employers require a high school diploma or equivalent, and completing a formal pharmacy technician training program at a Utah community college or vocational school strengthens your candidacy considerably before sitting for a national certification exam.
Which companies hire certified pharmacy technicians in Utah?
Companies currently hiring certified pharmacy technicians in Utah include Walgreens, CommonSpirit Health, and Walmart, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health are among the largest institutional employers in the state, with ongoing openings across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty pharmacy departments.
Which Utah cities have the most certified pharmacy technician jobs?
The cities with the most certified pharmacy technician openings in Utah are West Jordan, Midvale, and Saint George. Salt Lake City leads because of the density of hospital systems, specialty pharmacy operations, and retail pharmacy chains anchored there, while Provo and Ogden generate demand through regional hospital campuses and growing suburban retail pharmacy locations serving those metro populations.
Are there remote certified pharmacy technician jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're rare. The role is largely hands-on and tied to a licensed dispensing location, so most positions require on-site work. About 0% of certified pharmacy technician openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve prior authorization processing, pharmacy benefit management, or medication therapy management rather than dispensing.
How can I get hired as a certified pharmacy technician in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a pharmacy technician trainee or tech-in-training role at a large retail or health system pharmacy in Utah while you complete your national certification. Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health both run new technician onboarding pipelines that accommodate candidates still completing their credential. Transitioning from a medical receptionist, phlebotomist, or CNA role also gives hiring managers confidence in your patient-care fundamentals, and completing a formal training program at Salt Lake Community College or Utah Valley University adds measurable proof of readiness.
Where can I find and apply to certified pharmacy technician jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to certified pharmacy technician jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the roles that match your experience level and location preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
