Who's Hiring

Chef Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a chef job in Indianapolis?
Target Indianapolis's strongest hiring sectors: full-service hotels near the Convention Center and White River State Park, independent restaurants concentrated in Mass Ave, Fountain Square, and Broad Ripple, and corporate dining accounts downtown. Candidates with a strong background in high-volume banquet production or farm-to-table menus tend to stand out. Showing up at local chef networking events and approaching kitchen managers directly also opens doors faster than applying cold.
Which companies hire chefs in Indianapolis?
Employers hiring chefs in Indianapolis right now include Aramark, Hilton, and Sodexo, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indianapolis's hiring mix leans heavily toward hotel groups, convention and event venues, and independently owned restaurants across the city's distinct dining neighborhoods.
Are there remote chef jobs in Indianapolis?
Remote work is rare for chefs, since the role is hands-on by nature and tied to a physical kitchen. About 0% of chef openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in culinary consulting, menu development, or corporate food program coordination roles rather than line or kitchen management work.
How can I get a chef job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is starting as a prep cook or line cook at one of the city's many independent restaurants in Fountain Square or Broad Ripple, where smaller teams give entry-level cooks faster exposure to full kitchen operations. Hotel properties near the downtown convention corridor also hire prep and banquet staff regularly. Completing a culinary program at Ivy Tech Community College or volunteering at local food events builds a practical local resume quickly.
