ABOUT THE JOB
Albemarle is hiring for a Process Evaluator (Lithium Brine). This position is a hybrid (3 days/week at site) global position located in one of our corporate or manufacturing locations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop and deliver techno-economic assessments for capital projects, new products, process modifications, make-or-buy decisions, and strategic partnerships, including NPV, IRR, EBITDA impact analysis, break-even modeling, and sensitivity studies
- Support multi-scenario long-range planning outputs (base, stretch, and risk cases) with transparent assumptions and full data lineage, informing portfolio decisions at the leadership level
- Conduct deep-dive competitor technology evaluations, including process flowsheet reconstruction, bill-of-materials analysis, cost curve benchmarking, and identification of fundamental process or technology advantages with a focus on lithium conversion from brine resources
- Partner with Commercial, Technology, Finance, Manufacturing, Capital, Sustainability, and Supply Chain teams to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and present findings
- Collaborate directly with FP&A and Controllers to ensure model outputs align with P&L reporting and factory cost structures
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 3+ years of experience in process engineering, techno-economic evaluation, or a comparable analytical role within the chemical, materials, or energy industry
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling, including NPV, IRR, EBITDA analysis, transfer pricing, and multi-entity cost structures
- Strong command of mass and energy balance principles, process flowsheet analysis, unit operations, yield calculations, and equipment sizing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Linear Programming or optimization platforms (e.g., Aspen SCM, GAMS, or equivalent)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; working knowledge of Python, Power BI, or equivalent data analysis and visualization tools
- Familiarity with SAP (ECC/S4HANA), SAP BusinessObjects, or enterprise planning systems
- Experience reconstructing competitor process flowsheets from public filings, patents, or feasibility studies (e.g., NI-43-101 Technical Reports)
- Background in one or more of the following domains: bromine derivatives, lithium extraction, or specialty chemicals
- Exposure to stage-gate project governance frameworks and portfolio management processes #LI-JH3
