Clinical Assistant Professor Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical assistant professor job in Indianapolis?
Focus your search on Indianapolis's academic medical institutions, nursing schools, and health sciences programs, particularly those clustered around the IUPUI campus and the Indiana University School of Medicine corridor. Candidates with active clinical credentials alongside teaching experience stand out in this market. Presenting a clear record of patient-facing practice combined with curriculum development or mentorship work is what separates competitive applicants from the rest.
Which companies hire clinical assistant professors in Indianapolis?
Companies currently hiring clinical assistant professors in Indianapolis include Indiana University, Indiana University Health, and CHRISTIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indianapolis's hiring is driven heavily by its university-affiliated medical centers, community hospital systems, and health sciences colleges, many of which maintain dedicated clinical faculty pipelines.
Are there remote clinical assistant professor jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, though only in limited areas, since clinical assistant professor roles typically require hands-on instruction, lab supervision, or patient-care oversight that cannot be done remotely. About 17% of clinical assistant professor openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Where remote work does appear locally, it tends to cover didactic course delivery, curriculum planning, or administrative faculty duties rather than direct clinical instruction.
How can I get a clinical assistant professor job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is through adjunct or part-time clinical instructor roles at health sciences programs affiliated with IUPUI or the Indiana University School of Medicine, which regularly bring on clinicians transitioning into academia. Preceptor or clinical supervisor positions at Indianapolis hospital systems can also bridge into a faculty track. Candidates who hold current clinical licensure and can demonstrate even informal teaching, such as student supervision or in-service training, move faster through these pipelines.
Which industries hire the most clinical assistant professors in Indianapolis?
Most clinical assistant professor openings in Indianapolis sit in Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indianapolis's concentration of academic medical centers, nursing programs, and allied health schools makes healthcare education and university-affiliated clinical training the dominant drivers of local faculty hiring.
