Cloud Solutions Architect Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cloud solutions architect in Texas?
Cloud solutions architecture has no state-issued license in Texas, so the path runs through education and vendor certifications. Most Texas employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, combined with certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Hands-on experience deploying cloud infrastructure is weighted heavily in Texas listings, and many candidates move into the role from prior positions as systems engineer, DevOps engineer, or cloud administrator.
How much do cloud solutions architects make in Texas?
Cloud solutions architects in Texas earn a median of about $133,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,110 for the lowest 10% to over $191,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cloud solutions architects in Texas?
Employers hiring cloud solutions architects in Texas right now include Bain & Company, NVIDIA, and Amazon Web Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major energy companies, and large financial institutions means demand is spread across industries rather than limited to pure-play technology firms.
Which Texas cities have the most cloud solutions architect jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston account for the largest share of cloud solutions architect openings in Texas. Dallas leads because of its dense cluster of corporate headquarters and financial services firms, Austin's tech sector drives consistent demand from software and semiconductor companies, and Houston's energy industry has accelerated cloud adoption across major operators and oilfield services firms.
Are there remote cloud solutions architect jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Cloud solutions architecture is inherently a desk-based, systems-design role with no requirement for physical presence, making it one of the more remote-compatible positions in technology. About 32% of cloud solutions architect openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly employers across the state have adopted flexible work for this role. Architecture planning, stakeholder reviews, and documentation are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a cloud solutions architect in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as a cloud engineer or junior systems administrator at a Texas employer, then build toward architecture responsibilities over time. Large Texas technology employers and consulting firms such as those in the Dallas and Austin corridors often hire for associate cloud engineer roles that serve as a direct on-ramp. Earning the AWS Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification before applying gives candidates a concrete credential, and contributing to open-source cloud projects or building a personal portfolio of architecture diagrams strengthens an application where formal experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to cloud solutions architect jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cloud solutions architect jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across the state's major hiring metros and industries. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
