How to Get Visa Sponsorship in 23andMe Visa Sponsorship USA
Target roles aligned with Green Card sponsorship
23andMe's sponsorship history skews toward permanent residency pathways rather than temporary work visas. Focus your applications on roles in bioinformatics, data science, and research where long-term retention, and Green Card support, are most common.
Canadian and Mexican nationals should highlight TN eligibility
23andMe sponsors TN visas, which are faster and simpler to process than most alternatives. If you're a Canadian or Mexican national in a qualifying science or engineering role, TN eligibility is a genuine advantage worth emphasizing upfront.
Align your background with 23andMe's core research areas
Sponsorship at 23andMe is concentrated in technical and scientific functions, genomics, computational biology, software engineering, and health data. Applications that clearly map your skills to these areas are more likely to advance to a sponsorship conversation.
Research which teams are actively hiring before applying
23andMe's sponsorship activity is not uniform across all departments. Filter by verified sponsorship history and role type to identify where openings are concentrated. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and avoid wasted applications.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 distinction before your interview
23andMe sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories. Knowing which pathway fits your qualifications, advanced degree for EB-2, skilled worker for EB-3, shows preparation and signals you understand the sponsorship process from the employer's side.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does 23andMe sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, 23andMe does not have a significant H-1B sponsorship history. Their verified sponsorship activity centers on employment-based Green Card pathways (EB-2 and EB-3) and F-1 OPT work authorization. If H-1B sponsorship is a requirement for your situation, it's worth confirming directly with their recruiting team during the process.
Which visa types does 23andMe sponsor?
23andMe sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Cards and supports F-1 OPT candidates. They also sponsor TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. Their sponsorship profile is most relevant for candidates seeking permanent residency support or those already authorized to work in the U.S. on OPT.
Which departments or roles at 23andMe are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at 23andMe is concentrated in technical and scientific roles, particularly bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, software engineering, and genomics research. These functions align with the company's core product and research mission, making them the most likely areas where the company is willing to invest in long-term sponsorship support.
How do I find open roles at 23andMe that include visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search for 23andMe on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsorship data so you can confirm a company's actual track record before applying. Focus on roles in research and engineering functions where sponsorship activity has historically been strongest, and look for job listings that explicitly mention sponsorship availability.
How do I approach the application process at 23andMe as an international candidate?
Be upfront about your visa status early, recruiters at healthcare and biotech companies are generally familiar with sponsorship logistics, and transparency avoids wasted time on both sides. If you're on OPT, note your authorization end date clearly. For Green Card pathways, the process typically begins after an offer is extended and can take a year or more depending on your category and country of birth.
