Align your credentials to ABB's category focus
ABB's procurement teams operate across electrification, robotics, and motion divisions. Tailor your resume to show category management or strategic sourcing experience in industrial or capital goods, not just general purchasing, that specificity signals fit before the interview.
Target roles that sit above tactical buying
ABB tends to sponsor for roles requiring specialized expertise, not entry-level purchasing. Focus your applications on strategic sourcing, supplier quality, or commodity management positions where the specialty occupation threshold for H-1B eligibility is clearer and easier to support.
Get your LCA timeline straight before accepting
ABB's legal team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. LCA certification typically takes seven business days. Build that window into your start date negotiation so the offer letter timeline doesn't create unnecessary pressure.
Search ABB's open procurement roles on Migrate Mate
ABB posts procurement roles across multiple divisions and locations, and not all of them surface on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for ABB procurement openings verified for visa sponsorship, so you're applying where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare for PERM by documenting your specialized skills now
If ABB sponsors your Green Card through the EB-2 or EB-3 route, the PERM process requires the employer to prove no qualified U.S. worker was available. Keeping records of specialized procurement certifications like CPSM or CPM strengthens the case that your role requires your specific expertise.
Address the specialty occupation question in your interview
Procurement can face H-1B scrutiny because the field spans both degree-required and non-degree roles. Come prepared to connect your specific duties at ABB to your degree field, whether that's supply chain, engineering, business, or a related discipline, to support the specialty occupation determination.

Find Procurement at ABB JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ABB sponsor H-1B visas for Procurements?
Yes, ABB sponsors H-1B visas for procurement professionals, particularly for roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, such as strategic sourcing managers, commodity managers, and supplier development engineers. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in supply chain, engineering, or business are the strongest candidates for sponsorship. Entry-level or generalist purchasing roles may face more scrutiny from USCIS on specialty occupation eligibility.
How do I apply for Procurement jobs at ABB?
You can apply directly through ABB's careers portal or browse verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate, which filters ABB procurement roles by visa sponsorship track record. When applying, tailor your materials to the specific division, whether electrification, robotics, or motion, and emphasize category management or strategic sourcing experience relevant to industrial manufacturing supply chains.
Which visa types does ABB commonly use for Procurement roles?
ABB primarily sponsors H-1B visas for procurement professionals requiring specialty occupation status. For longer-term immigration, ABB supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications, typically through the PERM labor certification process. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized procurement expertise in industrial manufacturing may qualify for EB-2. EB-3 covers professionals and skilled workers in roles requiring a bachelor's degree.
What qualifications does ABB expect for sponsored Procurement positions?
ABB typically looks for a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, or category management within industrial or capital goods environments. Professional certifications such as CPSM or CPM can strengthen your profile. Experience working with ERP systems like SAP is commonly referenced in ABB procurement job descriptions across their manufacturing divisions.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at ABB?
The timeline depends on when in the H-1B cap cycle you're applying. For cap-subject petitions, ABB would file in April for an October 1 start date, meaning you could wait up to six months after lottery selection before starting. The DOL Labor Condition Application is certified in roughly seven business days. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, ABB can file a transfer petition and you can begin work once USCIS receives it under portability rules.
