Tailor your resume to AbbVie's pipeline
AbbVie's Project Manager roles frequently sit within oncology, immunology, or neuroscience programs. Align your resume to show experience managing clinical or regulatory workstreams in a comparable therapeutic area, not just generic project delivery credentials.
Distinguish clinical ops from commercial PM tracks
AbbVie posts Project Manager roles across R&D, regulatory, and commercial functions. Applying to the right track matters because visa filings are tied to specific job codes and duties. Confirm the role aligns with your background before submitting.
Browse open roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Manager openings at AbbVie by visa type so you can target roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring expectation, rather than negotiating it case by case.
Prepare your credentials for specialty occupation review
USCIS evaluates H-1B petitions for Project Manager roles closely, since the position must qualify as a specialty occupation. A degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related field strengthens your petition alongside documented PM experience in pharma or biotech.
Ask about LCA filing timelines before accepting
AbbVie must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. During offer negotiation, confirm the employer's internal timeline so your start date accounts for LCA certification and USCIS adjudication.
Understand your OPT cap-gap exposure if you're on F-1
If you're on F-1 OPT and AbbVie sponsors your H-1B, your work authorization during the cap-gap period depends on a timely October 1 petition. Verify your OPT expiration date against the H-1B registration window so you don't have a gap in authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does AbbVie sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, AbbVie sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as life sciences, engineering, or business. AbbVie handles the petition through its internal immigration team, and the process includes a DOL-certified Labor Condition Application before USCIS filing.
Which visa types does AbbVie commonly use for Project Manager roles?
AbbVie sponsors several visa types for Project Managers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, and TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals. For longer-term pathways, AbbVie also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates may also be considered during early-career hiring.
What qualifications are expected for Project Manager roles at AbbVie?
AbbVie typically expects a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, engineering, or business, alongside direct project management experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment. PMP certification is frequently listed as preferred. Roles within clinical or regulatory functions often require familiarity with FDA submission processes, GCP, or cross-functional drug development timelines.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at AbbVie?
You can search for Project Manager openings directly on AbbVie's careers site or use Migrate Mate to filter AbbVie roles by visa sponsorship type. Applications go through AbbVie's internal applicant tracking system. Tailoring your application to the specific therapeutic area or business unit in the job description improves your chances of advancing to a recruiter screen.
How do I plan my timeline when applying for a sponsored role at AbbVie?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the cap-subject H-1B process runs on a fixed annual cycle, with USCIS registration typically opening in March and employment starting October 1 at the earliest. AbbVie will need to complete an internal approval process and DOL Labor Condition Application certification before filing. Factor in at least several months between receiving an offer and your authorized start date.
