ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
Affinity Solutions is seeking a hands-on Junior Controller to oversee key operational accounting functions with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, collections, and contract-based and transactional/variable revenue recognition. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a lean team environment and enjoys taking ownership of critical processes that directly impact cash flow and financial accuracy.
The position is currently remote, with a planned transition back to in-person office operations in New York, NY. Candidates should be comfortable moving to an onsite arrangement.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Receivable and Collections
- Manage aging analysis, cash application, and collections processes end-to-end
- Monitor past-due balances and proactively engage clients to resolve outstanding payments
- Oversee collections escalation paths and manage all related communications
- Partner with Sales, Account Management, and Legal to resolve billing disputes and/or contract-related matters
- Prepare and send all client invoices based on internal reports, contract terms, and/or agreed-upon billing schedules

Monthly Close and General Ledger
- Own the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all accounting entries
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and review journal entries
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

Contract Review and Revenue Recognition
- Review client contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606
- Maintain documentation for revenue policies and contract interpretations
- Support monthly revenue close, including deferred, accrued, and revenue schedules and reconciliations
- Maintain historical revenue records and ensure accuracy across prior period revenue activity
- Support external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; master's degree preferred
- Strong NetSuite experience is required
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of AR, collections, and revenue recognition
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and general ledger reconciliations
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, lean team environment
SALARY RANGE: $135,000 – $150,000 base salary
OFFICE HOURS: 9am – 5:30pm
