Credential Your Nursing License for California
California's Board of Registered Nursing requires foreign-trained nurses to have their education evaluated and pass the NCLEX-RN before any employer can file a sponsorship petition. Start this process early since evaluation timelines can run several months.
Target AHMC's Hospital-Based Nursing Openings
AHMC operates multiple acute care hospitals in the greater Los Angeles area. Focus your applications on hospital-based roles rather than outpatient or clinic positions, as those settings align most closely with where AHMC concentrates its Registered Nurse hiring volume.
Understand the EB-3 PERM Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
AHMC sponsors nurses through the EB-3 category, which requires a PERM labor certification filed with DOL before an I-140 petition can proceed. That PERM stage alone can take a year or more, so factor that into your planning when evaluating an offer.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Interview
Ask the hiring manager directly whether sponsorship covers only the I-140 petition or also includes PERM filing and adjustment of status. Some hospital systems split legal costs or only sponsor certain stages, and knowing this upfront shapes your negotiation.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Openings
Search Migrate Mate to browse Registered Nurse roles at AHMC HealthCare that are verified for visa sponsorship eligibility. Filtering by sponsorship type saves you from applying to roles where immigration support isn't confirmed by the employer.
Confirm VisaScreen Certification Before Your Start Date
Federal law requires internationally educated nurses to hold a VisaScreen certificate from CGFNS or an equivalent credential verification organization before receiving an occupational visa. USCIS will not approve an EB-3 petition for a nurse without this documentation in place.

Find Registered Nurse at AHMC HealthCare JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AHMC HealthCare sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Registered Nurse roles at AHMC HealthCare are generally not sponsored through the H-1B visa because nursing positions typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B classification. AHMC's sponsorship for nurses is focused on the EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, which are the standard pathways for internationally educated nurses pursuing permanent U.S. work authorization.
Which visa types does AHMC HealthCare commonly use for Registered Nurse sponsorship?
AHMC HealthCare primarily sponsors Registered Nurses through the EB-3 employment-based Green Card category, which requires a PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. In some cases, nurses with advanced qualifications may be evaluated for the EB-2 category. Both pathways lead to permanent residency rather than a temporary work visa.
What qualifications does AHMC HealthCare expect for Registered Nurse roles?
AHMC HealthCare expects Registered Nurse candidates to hold an active California RN license, have passed the NCLEX-RN, and typically hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an associate degree with substantial clinical experience. Acute care experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred given AHMC's network of inpatient facilities. Internationally trained nurses also need a VisaScreen certificate before a sponsorship petition can be approved.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at AHMC HealthCare?
You can find and apply for Registered Nurse positions at AHMC HealthCare directly through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which lists AHMC's open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight acute care experience and include your California RN license number. If your license is pending, note your application status clearly so recruiters can assess your timeline.
How do I estimate the timeline from job offer to work authorization at AHMC HealthCare?
The EB-3 process at AHMC typically involves three sequential stages: PERM labor certification with DOL, which currently averages well over a year; the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS; and adjustment of status or consular processing. Your total wait depends heavily on your country of birth due to visa retrogression. Nurses born in countries without significant backlog can see the full process resolved in two to four years, while others may wait considerably longer.
