Align your credentials to GMP requirements
Amgen's Operations Engineer roles sit inside regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments. Frame your resume around GMP compliance, equipment validation, and process qualification experience before applying, since these signal direct fit to their hiring teams.
Target sites with active manufacturing operations
Amgen operates multiple manufacturing campuses across the U.S. Roles tied to active biologics production or fill-finish operations tend to generate more sponsorship filings than corporate or early-stage sites, so filter your search accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles
Sponsorship-verified Operations Engineer openings at Amgen can be hard to identify through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse roles confirmed to support visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on positions that won't move forward.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny
Operations Engineer petitions occasionally receive USCIS Requests for Evidence challenging whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Have a degree-to-role justification ready, particularly if your field of study is engineering-adjacent rather than directly matching the job title.
Understand how PERM affects your long-term path
Amgen sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process. If permanent residency is your goal, confirm at the offer stage whether your role is eligible, since PERM timelines can start running concurrently with your nonimmigrant status.

Find Operations Engineer at Amgen JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Amgen sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Engineers?
Yes, Amgen sponsors H-1B visas for Operations Engineer roles. The company has an established immigration program and works with outside counsel to file petitions for qualifying candidates. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery in April, your start date will depend on when in the hiring cycle your offer is made.
How do I apply for Operations Engineer jobs at Amgen?
Applications go through Amgen's careers portal at amgen.com/careers. For roles confirmed to offer visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate filters Amgen's Operations Engineer openings so you can apply with confidence. Tailor your application to highlight GMP experience, process validation, and any familiarity with biologics or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
Which visa types does Amgen commonly use for Operations Engineers?
Amgen sponsors H-1B, E-3 for Australian nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican citizens, and F-1 OPT and CPT for current students and recent graduates. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, Amgen also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the DOL PERM process for eligible roles.
What qualifications does Amgen expect for Operations Engineer roles?
Most Operations Engineer positions at Amgen require a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with GMP manufacturing, equipment qualification protocols such as IQ, OQ, and PQ, and familiarity with FDA-regulated environments are consistently prioritized. Advanced degrees can strengthen candidacy for senior-level openings.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're in F-1 OPT status, your OPT authorization needs to cover the gap between your start date and October 1, or your employer can file under the cap-gap provision. Starting the Amgen interview process between October and January gives you the most runway before the next registration window.
