Frame your PM credentials around FDA-regulated programs
Amgen's project management roles frequently involve IND, BLA, and NDA submission timelines. Tailoring your resume and portfolio to reflect experience managing regulatory milestones signals fit with their drug development pipeline, not just general PM competency.
Identify which Amgen site aligns with your background
Amgen's project management hiring concentrates across Thousand Oaks, Cambridge, and South San Francisco. Roles tied to specific therapeutic areas or manufacturing differ by site, so targeting the location that matches your scientific domain sharpens your application significantly.
Understand how PERM timing affects your career planning
If you're targeting a Green Card through Amgen, PERM labor certification can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is filed. For applicants from India or China, building this into your long-term timeline while maintaining H-1B status through extensions is essential.
Use Migrate Mate to filter actively sponsoring PM roles
Not every Senior Project Management posting at Amgen is tied to an active sponsorship intent. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles at Amgen where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're spending time on applications that can actually move your visa situation forward.
Leverage OPT or CPT strategically for an Amgen internship
Amgen recruits for full-time Senior PM roles internally. If you're on F-1 status, completing a co-op or internship under CPT or OPT positions you for direct conversion, often with the same team, bypassing cold external competition for sponsored roles.

Find Senior Project Management at Amgen JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Amgen sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Project Managements?
Yes, Amgen sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Project Management roles. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which it typically does given the degree requirements in life sciences, engineering, or a related field. Amgen works with immigration counsel to file the Labor Condition Application with the DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS, though your application must clear the H-1B cap lottery unless you're already H-1B exempt.
How do I apply for Senior Project Management jobs at Amgen?
Applications go through Amgen's careers portal, where Senior Project Management roles are listed by site and therapeutic area. Tailoring your application to reflect cross-functional drug development experience, particularly across IND-to-approval program phases, strengthens your candidacy. You can also browse verified sponsoring roles at Amgen directly through Migrate Mate, which filters listings to confirm visa sponsorship availability before you apply.
Which visa types does Amgen commonly use for Senior Project Management roles?
Amgen sponsors a range of visa categories for Senior Project Management positions, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 for qualifying exchange visitors. F-1 OPT and CPT are used at the early-career and intern level. For longer-term employment, Amgen supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for eligible candidates in this function.
What qualifications does Amgen expect for Senior Project Management roles?
Amgen's Senior Project Management roles in Science and Research typically require a bachelor's or advanced degree in a life sciences or engineering discipline, combined with several years of experience managing cross-functional programs in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment. PMP certification is valued but not always required. Familiarity with stage-gate processes, regulatory submission timelines, and CMC or clinical development workflows distinguishes competitive candidates.
How do I time my application around H-1B cap deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March each year, with selections made shortly after. If you're targeting a sponsored Senior Project Management role at Amgen, securing an offer by February gives your employer time to register you before the window closes. Missed the cap lottery? Amgen also sponsors E-3 and TN visas for eligible nationals, and cap-exempt H-1B transfers are possible if you've been previously selected.
