Frame Your PMP Around Biotech Timelines
Amgen's Program Manager roles emphasize clinical trial milestones and drug development stage-gates, not general project delivery. Tailor your credentials and resume to reflect cross-functional coordination in regulated biotech or pharma environments, not just generic project management.
Target Amgen's Pipeline-Facing Program Manager Openings
Amgen posts Program Manager roles tied to specific therapeutic areas like oncology and inflammation. Filtering by business unit, not just job title, helps you identify openings where your scientific background aligns with active pipeline priorities and boosts your fit.
Clarify Sponsorship Eligibility Before Interviews
Amgen sponsors multiple visa categories for Program Managers, but not every posting is explicitly labeled. Ask the recruiter directly whether the role is eligible for your specific visa type, whether H-1B, E-3, or TN, before investing time in later interview rounds.
Align Your Start Date With H-1B Cap Deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Coordinate your Amgen offer timeline so your employer can file during the registration window. A misaligned offer letter can cost you a full year of work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Amgen Program Manager Openings
Migrate Mate filters Program Manager roles at companies with verified sponsorship histories, including Amgen. Search by visa type to surface openings that match your authorization needs without manually screening hundreds of job postings for sponsorship language.
Prepare for Amgen's PERM Timeline if Pursuing a Green Card
Amgen supports EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for Program Managers, but PERM labor certification through DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is filed. Raise long-term sponsorship intentions early in negotiations so both sides can plan accordingly.

Find Program Manager at Amgen JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Amgen sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Amgen sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. Program Management is generally classified as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in life sciences, engineering, or a related field. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual lottery, your offer timing needs to align with USCIS's March registration window for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types does Amgen commonly sponsor for Program Manager roles?
Amgen sponsors a range of visa categories for Program Managers, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 for certain research-focused roles. For candidates seeking permanent residence, Amgen supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification filed with the DOL.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Amgen?
Applications go through Amgen's careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Program Manager roles often require a bachelor's degree in a life sciences or technical field, with several years of cross-functional project experience in biotech or pharma. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse Amgen's open Program Manager roles filtered by your visa sponsorship type, so you only apply to roles where you're eligible.
What qualifications does Amgen expect for Program Manager candidates?
Amgen's Program Manager postings typically require a degree in a life sciences, engineering, or business-related field, combined with hands-on experience managing programs in a regulated biotech or pharmaceutical environment. Familiarity with clinical development stages, cross-functional team coordination, and tools like MS Project or Smartsheet strengthens your candidacy. A PMP certification is valued but not universally required.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship process once I have an Amgen offer?
Once Amgen extends an offer, their internal immigration team typically coordinates with outside counsel to begin the sponsorship filing. For H-1B, the process involves a Labor Condition Application certified by the DOL before USCIS receives the I-129 petition. Confirm your intended start date and visa category with your recruiter immediately after accepting, since processing timelines vary by visa type and can affect your first day.
