Align your PMP credentials to biotech program structures
Amgen's Project Program Manager roles typically require experience managing IND-stage or late-phase clinical programs, not just general project portfolios. A PMP or PgMP credential paired with therapeutic area exposure strengthens your petition's specialty occupation framing considerably.
Target Amgen roles tied to specific pipeline programs
Amgen's open Project Program Manager positions often map to active therapeutic programs in oncology, cardiovascular, or rare disease. Applying to roles aligned with pipeline activity means faster headcount approvals and a hiring manager with urgent fill pressure.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Amgen roles by visa type
Not every Amgen posting that lists sponsorship will cover your specific visa category. Migrate Mate lets you filter Project Program Manager openings at Amgen by the visa types they've historically supported, so you're only spending time on roles that fit your situation.
Get your LCA timeline right before accepting an offer
Amgen must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Standard DOL certification takes seven business days, so factor that into your start date negotiation. Rushing this step is one of the most common offer-stage mistakes.
Prepare a cross-functional matrix for your visa interview
Consular officers sometimes probe whether a Project Program Manager role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Coming prepared with a clear breakdown of how your role interfaces with clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing teams substantiates the specialty occupation requirement against that scrutiny.
Project Program Manager at Amgen jobs are hiring across the US. Find yours.
Find Project Program Manager at Amgen JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Amgen sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, Amgen sponsors H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles. Because these positions require coordinating complex drug development programs across clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing functions, they generally satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation standard. Amgen's internal immigration team manages the process, but you'll need to align your start date with H-1B cap filing windows if you don't already hold H-1B status.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Amgen?
Applications go through Amgen's careers portal at amgen.com/careers. Search for Project Program Manager roles and filter by location. Tailoring your resume to highlight cross-functional program leadership within regulated biotech or pharma environments increases your chances of clearing initial screening. Migrate Mate also lists Amgen's open Project Program Manager positions filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you prioritize the right postings.
Which visa types does Amgen commonly sponsor for Project Program Manager roles?
Amgen sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Project Program Manager positions, along with employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. Your eligibility depends on your citizenship and current immigration status.
What qualifications does Amgen expect for Project Program Manager roles?
Amgen typically requires a bachelor's degree in a life sciences, engineering, or related technical field, with an advanced degree preferred for senior-level positions. Hands-on experience managing cross-functional programs in a regulated pharmaceutical or biotech environment matters more than industry certifications alone. Familiarity with stage-gate processes, IND or NDA submissions, and tools like Veeva or Microsoft Project appears frequently across postings.
How do I plan my timeline if I'm on F-1 OPT and targeting an Amgen Project Program Manager role?
If your OPT expires before October 1 and you need H-1B sponsorship, you'll need an offer in hand by mid-February to be included in the April USCIS lottery. STEM OPT extension gives you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which creates a longer runway. Confirm with Amgen's recruiting team early whether they're prepared to support an H-1B cap-subject petition for your target role.
