- Expert-level knowledge of core networking fundamentals including the TCP/IP protocol stack, IP Routing (BGP, OSPF), and L2 switching (VxLAN/EVPN).
- In-depth knowledge in at least one key technology area: Data Center architecture, Campus networking (including NAC/802.1X), enterprise Wi-Fi, or network security.

Document your networking certifications before applying
Arista recruiters screen heavily for hands-on experience with routing protocols, BGP, and network operating systems. Certifications like CCNA, CCNP, or Arista's own ACE credential strengthen your profile before the first conversation.
Target postings that list EOS experience explicitly
Arista's proprietary Extensible Operating System appears in most Support Engineer job descriptions. Roles specifying EOS troubleshooting signal active technical teams with hiring budgets, which correlates with active sponsorship pipelines.
Search open Support Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by Arista Networks on Migrate Mate to surface Support Engineer postings verified for visa sponsorship. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship hasn't been confirmed for this specific function.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline during screening
Arista hires F-1 candidates through CPT and OPT, but onboarding timelines for technical support roles can run six to eight weeks. Flag your authorization end date early so the recruiting team can sequence your start date and H-1B cap filing correctly.
Understand how Arista structures its H-1B filings
Support Engineer roles at Arista typically fall under specialty occupation criteria tied to computer science or electrical engineering degrees. USCIS scrutinizes support titles more than pure software engineering roles, so your petition should clearly connect your degree to network systems work.
Prepare for PERM early if Green Card is your goal
Arista has an established EB-2 and EB-3 track for engineering staff. Ask your recruiter about the company's internal timeline for initiating PERM once you're hired. DOL's PERM process can take one to two years, so starting the conversation at offer stage matters.

Find Support Engineer at Arista Networks JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Arista Networks sponsor H-1B visas for Support Engineers?
Yes, Arista Networks sponsors H-1B visas for Support Engineer roles. The company files petitions annually during the H-1B cap season each April, and Support Engineers are among the technical functions included. If you're already on OPT or another status, Arista can also file for a cap-exempt transfer in some situations. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter at the screening stage.
How do I apply for Support Engineer jobs at Arista Networks?
Apply directly through Arista's careers portal or browse verified openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles confirmed to offer visa sponsorship. Tailor your application to highlight experience with network troubleshooting, EOS, and customer-facing technical support. Arista's recruiting process typically includes a technical phone screen followed by a structured interview covering network fundamentals and scenario-based problem solving.
Which visa types does Arista Networks commonly use for Support Engineer roles?
Arista sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Support Engineer positions. H-1B is the most common path for long-term employment. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or computer science roles. F-1 candidates on OPT can start while their H-1B petition is pending, provided the timing aligns with cap season.
What qualifications does Arista Networks expect for Support Engineer candidates?
Most Support Engineer roles at Arista require a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols, BGP, OSPF, or VXLAN is expected. Familiarity with Arista EOS or comparable network operating systems is a strong differentiator. Some roles also ask for scripting skills in Python for automation and troubleshooting.
How do I time my application around Arista's H-1B filing process?
USCIS opens H-1B registrations each March for an October 1 start date. To be included, you need an offer letter and a completed I-129 petition before the registration window closes. Targeting Arista's recruiting cycle between November and February gives you the best chance of getting an offer in time. If you miss cap season, Arista can sometimes place you on OPT extension or explore cap-exempt options depending on your situation.
