PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor/Professor of Practice in Journalism, beginning August 1, 2026, and a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Journalism beginning August 1, 2026. The candidate will be expected to develop industry partnerships while working closely with current Belmont stakeholders. They will be expected to design curriculum that will best prepare students for the continuously evolving field of journalism, multimedia production, and storytelling. Candidate must be well-versed in journalistic writing, AP Style, as well as multimedia reporting. A specialty in sports or entertainment journalism is a plus. Additional responsibilities will include academic advising, student mentoring and college and university service.
A bachelor’s degree in a related area with industry experience is a minimum to apply for an Instructor or Professor of Practice position. A terminal degree, or ABD, in a related area is required for the Assistant Professor of Journalism. Significant industry and teaching experience is strongly preferred. The candidate may take on the responsibility as the Director of the Journalism Program. The candidate may teach undergraduate topics within the department as they relate to news, including news writing, broadcasting, multimedia production, sports, entertainment journalism and or investigative reporting. The candidate may also serve as faculty adviser for student media. Catalog courses taught could include, but are not limited to, Journalistic Newswriting, Sports Writing, Investigative Reporting, Journalism Beat Reporting, Entrepreneurial Media, Multimedia Production, Video Presentation, First Year Seminar or other courses yet to be designed.

- Advise and mentor students in research and other class-related projects.
